Ladies Golf Union

The LGU is the governing body for ladies' golf in Great Britain and Ireland.  It is based at St. Andrews, just up from the R & A clubhouse).  Whilst the LGU consists of the National Organisations (English Ladies' Golf Association, Irish Ladies' Golf Union, Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association and the Welsh Ladies' Golf Union), it does not run national championships or other domestic golfing administration.

English Ladies Golf Association

The English Ladies Golf Association was founded in 1952 and is the governing body for ladies' amateur golf in England. ELGA comprises 35 affiliated County Associations split into four Divisions and every amateur playing lady member of more than 1,700 affiliated clubs (more than 134,000 in 2001).
