FOREST GOLF CLUB
JUNIOR
SECTION
The
aim of the Junior section is to provide a framework within which
our young golfers are able to develop their golfing prowess,
knowledge of the Rules and of the Etiquette of golf so that, in
future, they maintain and enhance the reputation of Delamere
Forest Golf Club wherever they subsequently play golf.
DFGC
has an active junior section of 40+ golfers, mostly, but not
exclusively, the offspring of adult members.
The
section has increased in strength following the introduction of
weekend group coaching in 2005 which has been instrumental in
introducing a healthy number of under 10’s to the game.
As
these youngsters have grown in competence, the programme of junior
golf competitions has been expanded to encourage them into
competitive golf
Despite
the relatively few teenage juniors, DFGC has two junior golfers
who are playing at county level, representing the Cheshire Union
of Golf Clubs: - Henry Bennett at under 18’s, Joshua Dye at under 16’s.
Again this
year, the club has entered a team in the Mid Cheshire Junior
League. Teams consist of 5 players who play singles match play
against the other teams in the league, giving the players valuable
experience of team competition, and of playing at other golf
courses around Cheshire.
